About Marks2Games

We are two game enthusiasts for whom games have always been an inseparable part of life.

Our friendship began with the now-defunct online strategy game Red Dragon, and since then we have spent years exploring and playing many different game titles together. We enjoy watching how the world of games constantly evolves, and we are always excited to discover new mechanics, systems, and design ideas. Since we are not short of ideas ourselves, we decided to contribute with creations of our own.

Each of our games begins with a core mechanic that gradually shapes the overall theme, while other supporting elements are added along the way. Our goal is to create innovative and fresh game experiences — or at the very least, unusual combinations of existing mechanics.

At the same time, we want to make games that avoid the pay-to-win model and let players play on their own terms, without unnecessary pressure. We are players who do not want to be controlled by games, but rather enjoy them in the moments we choose.

The Team

Marek Basovník

Since childhood, I have been fascinated by puzzles, although I still cannot solve a Rubik’s Cube — partly because I keep challenging myself to learn without a guide, and without even having the cube at hand.

As a young boy, I was drawn to mathematics, and later I studied theoretical physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, where I explored the horizons of black holes. Through theoretical physics, I came to realize that understanding the real world makes it easier to navigate imaginary ones as well, including the worlds of games.

If you want to move from being a user to being a creator, the key lies in understanding principles much deeper than they may first appear.

Marek Váchal

My journey into fantasy and games began when I was six years old and discovered the magic of Dungeons & Dragons with my father. Since then, tabletop RPGs and board games have remained a part of my life, and I continue to play them to this day. Computer games, especially simulation and strategy games, also became one of my main hobbies.

As a teenager, I encountered Indian philosophy, which immediately captivated me and strongly influenced my intellectual path. After finishing high school in bookselling, I continued my studies at the Faculty of Arts, where I specialized in Indian traditions at the Department of Religious Studies.

Ironically, studying this distant culture led me back toward a deeper exploration of Western culture. Along the way, I came to a profound realization: the world of fantasy today is still shaped primarily by Western imagination, even though fantasy itself can be far more imaginative than most people ever expect.
